Yoga is a both a system and a methodology for revealing the truth, and its goal is to remove the obstacles that prevent your true nature from expressing itself. Yoga philosophy says that you cannot force wholeness, as it is already there.
As human beings, we have certain views about how life, people or things are, as a result of our past experiences. In yoga, these recycled thought patterns are called samskaras.
BodyMindLife Yoga Teacher Training teaches you how to unwind these patterns and to remove the obstacles that temporarily interrupt the flow of prana (life force).
When these thoughts (beliefs and attitudes) are repeated over and over again they resist the flow of prana as it is presented in the moment. The ways we do this as a body/mind system are to:
- Tighten our muscles and consequently turn off other muscles
- Constrict our breathing
- Hold back our expression either verbal or through body posture
We need to restore pulsation to our bodies and encourage the movement of prana.
Our mind is the most potent force in our lives. It determines through our beliefs and attitudes (patterning) every aspect of our lives. These stories and patterns are largely unconscious so our first role as teacher is to bring awareness to these patterns. As we embody this understanding as yoga teachers, we are then able to pass that knowledge on to our students.

Our methodology
BodyMindLife 's Yoga Teacher Training offers a complete methodology of body, mind and spirit that allows yoga to be taught with integrity, honouring the traditional roots of yoga in a modern-day context. Using the wisdom of Yogic and Taoist (Yin/Yang) philosophy combined with Western Science, our unique system of yoga will reveal the inherent unity of life and existence, allowing us to transcend our self-imposed limitations into a life of abundance and vitality, where we are able to move toward fulfilling our goals and dreams. BodyMindLife's Teacher Training Method does not offer a 'style' of yoga practice. Rather it is an accessible and complete learning method that contains within it the keys to safe and effective yoga practice integrated with functional, practical and assessable ways to bring the bodymind system back into balance. With this understanding and through demonstration of the practical and philosophical application of this art form, you will be able to guide students along their own path to health and wellbeing.
The core of BodyMindLife's Teacher Training Methodology is expressed in understanding the Chakra system. All life is energy and many people are looking to reclaim the energy/vitality of their youth. As we have moved away from our centre, our energy flow is inhibited and our potential to live our dreams and fulfill our goals is diminished. The Chakras are a roadmap to finding where energy does or doesn't flow. We need to reorganize the body, breath and mind back into balance in order to find abundant overflowing energy. We will look at how the Chakras relate to the nervous system and how they innervate the various systems of the body. You will learn how you function on a physical and energetic level, and how the systems of the body break down when the Chakra system is adversely affected by the choices we make in life.
BodyMindLife's Teacher Training Methodology offers practical tools called The BodyMindLife Yoga 5 Pillars of Health and Wellbeing . These are a combination of Patanjali's 8 Limbed Path integrated with Western medical science that help us reorganize the bodymind in the direction of wellbeing.
Through the Five Pillars, we work on the level of the body, breath, mind, energy systems (chakras), relationships (how we relate to ourselves and others), and through restoring functional rhythms.
Level 1 - foundational yoga teacher training - the art of teaching yoga - the 200 hour course is split into four 50 hour components each offered over a 7 day period it will form a comprehensive experience that takes you through your own personal process of understanding and applying the 5 pillars of health and wellbeing to your life, connecting you to your truth and really starting to ‘walk your talk.’ This program provides a foundation of yoga practice and philosophy, enabling graduates to competently and safely teach dynamic group and private yoga classes. Level 2 - Advanced Yoga Teacher Training Program - Yoga Therapy - includes the 200 hour program and an additional 300 hours of module-based study, allowing students to deepen their understanding and gain confidence in their teaching. Totalling 500 hours, this program is unlike any other yoga teacher training offered in Australia, and has been developed to access the spiritual depths of human potential. Through deeper study of the therapeutic applications of Yoga, students who complete this program will have the unique ability to assess their clients’ state of health and prescribe a personal practice that will move them toward wellness of the body, mind and spirit. Students will look at where their clients physical and energetic systems are out of balance, compromised by stress, poor nutrition and hydration, and negative or destructive thought patterns, and will have the tools to guide them back to wholeness.
Many years ago, the instruction of yoga was originally passed from teacher to individual student, through a complete personal program that encompassed every aspect of the student’s life. These days, with the popularity of yoga resulting in large group classes, much of this one-to-one contact between teacher and student has been lost. Through this training, you will learn to bring a personalized approach to your yoga teaching, whether you teach private or group classes.

BodyMindLife Yoga’s Teacher Training Programs are registered with Yoga Alliance, at 200 and 500-hour level. Yoga Alliance sets a minimum standard which will ensure graduates are trained to the highest level and are able to join a growing international community of registered teachers. Upon receipt of your Teacher Training certificate from BodyMindLife, you will be able to apply for your personal registration with Yoga Alliance.
Completing the course
To attain your accreditation the 200 hours must be completed with 2 years from your beginning date and the 500 hours completed within 3 years of your start date.
