Yoga addicts from across Australia will flock to Sydney this June to experience the magic of Annie Carpenter.

The Californian yoga veteran and founder of SMARTflow Yoga has just confirmed her arrival down-under to lead a series of workshops designed specifically for advanced practitioners. The Moving through the Koshas’: Practices for Transformation series will take place at BodyMindLife in Surry Hills from 2nd-4th June 2017.

Participants will be introduced to the ‘Royal Practice’, a preparatory practice for the beloved Inversions; before building inner awareness through deep hip releases.

The second and third days are dedicated to backbends plus grounding asanas and pranayama practices to bring strength and stamina, before culminating in a restorative practice for acceptance and release.

Existing teachers will also benefit from an entire afternoon of hands-on-adjustments, empowering them to support students through intention, language and hands.

Carpenter explained that participants can expect a weekend of transformation:

“ You will move through the ‘ Kosha’ s’ (layers of your ‘ self’ ) to mine the wisdom —and uncover any obstacles — to create the conditions for self -knowledge and
lasting change. You’ll learn subtle anatomy and portals to each inner sheath and access the interpenetrating passages that both ground and elevate you and your students’ practices, and lives”

Globally recognised as a ‘teacher of teachers’, Annie Carpenter has been practicing since the and teaching since the 90s.

The self-confessed anatomy geek is a dedicated student of evolutionary movement, meditation and classical philosophy. Her teachings are described as ‘an intelligent marriage of mindful movement with compassionate, wakeful alignment

The entire 3-day intensive costs $415 ($390 for members of BodyMindLife) or $85 per individual workshop ($75 for members).
