Tara Folton

Yoga Teacher

Tara’s vinyasa classes are dynamic and playful. She intentionally incorporates creative sequencing, music, theming and props into her classes and invites her students to embody yoga as a way of living both on and off the mat. Her invitation is for her students to feel safe, have fun and celebrate coming together in community where we can share and embody this ancient practice.

Tara is a well-loved yoga instructor with over 21 years experience of practicing yoga, and 17 years of experience teaching and leading service-based yoga workshops and retreats around the world.

She received her interdisciplinary 200hr certification from the Nosara Yoga Institute in Costa Rica in 2006 and completed her 500hr advanced apprenticeship Kunga Yoga certification with her teacher Kristin Cooper-Gulak from the Wilmington Yoga Center in 2011.

Tara served as an assistant for the Kunga Journeys Global Service Retreats as well as Kunga Yoga 200hr Teacher Trainings, Kunga Vinyasa Advanced Teacher Trainings and Rhythmic Flow Yoga with Live Drumming Workshops for many years.

A pivotal moment in her yoga journey was the opportunity to volunteer with the Mizero Children of Rwanda, orphaned from the 1994 Rwandan genocide, into the yoga community in Wilmington, North Carolina in 2009.

Many individuals have inspired and guided her along the way and have been her greatest teachers – all of whom, she is extremely grateful for and humbled by, especially her son Kai Mana.
