Yoga Essentials classes build the foundations of your yoga practice. Classes move at a steady pace with a focus on alignment and instruction. We recommend Yoga Essentials classes to those who are new to yoga or experienced students looking to refine their practice and technique.

Temperature: Classes are heated to approximately 28°C. We do our best to keep the room at a comfortable temperature and recommend that you come hydrated, dress light, and bring a towel and water. If you are injured or pregnant please let your teacher know before class begins.

YOUR TEACHER - Aly Clarke

Aly brings a playful approach to the practice that combines strong, creative and considered sequencing, with her passion for the evocative power of language. A former runner and art director, she became transfixed by the space and calm she found within the movement of the yoga practice, and left the ferocity of ad agency life to the relative calm of yoga teacher training in New York City. Since her original training at Laughing Lotus NYC in 2011, she has completed over 500 hours of study with teachers and mentors including Noelle Connolly, Maty Ezraty, Emily Stone, Jasmine Tarkeshi and Kate Kendall. A writer and designer, her background in music, fashion and the arts informs the words and visuals she creates as the brand and events manager of BodyMindLife, translating the studio’s vision of empowering transformation in a unique, spirited and accessible manner.

You’ll move through a challenging series of exercises that incorporate functional movement patterns to strengthen, tone, firm and balance your body, improve posture and prevent injury. Not suitable for beginners to Reformer Pilates, those with injuries or during pregnancy.

Classes vary in focus and pace, and from teacher to teacher, and we encouraged you to move within the boundaries of your experience level. We recommend Yoga Open classes to those with prior yoga experience. If you're new to vinyasa, please attend 4-6 Yoga Essentials classes before trying our Open classes.

YOUR TEACHER - Eric Yatar

Eric believes that we all possess a deep and brilliant inner wisdom which we can access by building our strength, stamina and flexibilty. His invigorating flow classes give each student the chance to step into this wisdom of body, heart and mind through breath and movement.
Since completing his foundational training with Tias Little at Prajna Yoga in New Mexico, with whom he is continuing his Advanced Teacher Training certification, Eric has also completed teacher training in Power Yoga with Bryan Kest, Forrest Yoga Advanced Teacher Training with Ana Forrest, Yin Yoga with Sarah Powers, Pre-Natal Yoga with Linda Spackman, and Yoga Nidra with Jennifer Reis. He also finds inspiration through his years of practice in Iyengar Yoga under John Schumacher.

Being a mum to two small boys, Ilana understands what it's like to live life chaotically. For the past 10 years, Yoga has been something that Ilana has used to find some clarity and peace of mind when things got a bit tough.
In 2010 she completed yoga teacher training in Australia and has been lucky enough to study with some well known Australian yoga community teachers including Clive Sheridan, Sindar Kaur, Mark Breadner, Christina Brown and Ana Davis. Since then she has continued to develop her skills and knowledge through Shiva Rea’s Fluid Power Teacher Training facilitated by Simon Park and BodyMindLife’s Art of Alignment & Assisting. Her passion for teaching pre and post-natal yoga naturally evolved after falling pregnant with her sons. She definitely attributes yoga to positively transforming her birthing experience as well as giving her the tools to approach becoming a first time mother with great confidence and strength. Ilana’s classes are playful, energetic and fun. Always trying to encourage students to bring some joy onto the mat and grace into the practice, she believes this will enable them to reach their full potential on and off the mat.

Chill Flow classes carve flow through a voluptuous sequence that melts the body open with delicious hip openers and prepares the body for long, deep holds. Move from pose to counter pose, creating a full-spectrum experience for the body that will leave you feeling centered, whole and extremely relaxed. A yin and yang experience.

BodyMindLife Potts Point Location

BodyMindLife Potts Point offers yoga and pilates classes, workshops and special events. The studio is located at Mezzanine Level, 14 Kings Cross Road, Potts Point, between William Street and Goderich Lane. Enter through the glass doors to the left of the Larmont Hotel. It is a three minute walk from Kings Cross Station and close to major bus routes. Limited metered and unmetered street parking is available around the studio. Parking inspectors are vigilant.
