Carla was first introduced to Pilates in 2001 and was immediately hooked. Practicing in Sydney, New York and London, Carla completed her certification in both mat and reformer Pilates in 2013. She believes the Pilates focus on posture, core stability and strength makes it an important practice for people of all ages and backgrounds.

Carla's classes are strong and always varied. As a fully certified Personal Trainer, her focus is on form and movement, while encouraging clients to get the most out of their training. In 2015 she added Barre Attack to her repertoire, because she wanted to test herself (and her dance moves!). As a healthy living advocate and mother of two, Carla understands everyone leads busy lives but that if we love what we're doing, and nurture our body, we can achieve great thing.

YOUR TEACHER - Emily Rogers

Emily, originally from the UK, started off her career as a professional dancer. She performed around the world before moving to Australia where she deepened her yoga practice and fitness studies. Emily started working for BML in 2014 as one of our front desk assistants and was in the team when we first opened our Bondi Studio 3 years ago. In July of that year she completed her 200 hours in Thailand, and since then has completed further trainings at BML. Emily is also a Personal Trainer and barre instructor, particularly specialising in group fitness. Believing that this combination of movement go hand in hand, Emily is constantly exploring and learning how we can train and utilise our bodies to move at its highest efficiency, to ultimately be our best self both on and off the mat. She has a great understanding of the body and a passion for graceful movement. Never one to take life too seriously she will ensure to make each class fun and dynamic!

YOUR TEACHER - Beth Borowsky

With over 1000 hours of teacher training, and heading into her tenth year of teaching, Beth's classes are intelligently sequenced to ensure that you move at a slower pace, giving time for your muscles to heat, energy to build and an opportunity to delve deeper within, both physically and emotionally, and so discover the true medicine that is yoga.

Beth reminds you to honour your body – its strengths and weaknesses - to prevent injury and build stamina, balance and inner calm. You'll learn how to synchronise your breath with movement to cultivate a moving meditation, creating a delicious synchronicity between body, mind, spirit and soul.

Beth has been a teacher trainer on several of BodyMindLife’s 200 hour teacher trainings and also offers Kids Yoga Teacher Training. She is also known and loved for her Goddess retreats that she runs throughout the year both in Australia and Bali. As the owner of KarmaKidsYoga and JustBreatheYoga, Beth honours her teachers, past and present, Ana Forrest, Twee Merrigan, Nicole Walsh, Mark Breadner, Sindar Kaur and Jodi Komitor (to name a few) for their inspiration and wisdom.

If it’s your first sauna experience, please arrive 5-10 mins early so we have the opportunity to welcome you and talk you through your first session.The sauna is located within its own private therapy room which will be stocked with a robe, towel and water for your personal use.

Prior to your arrival the sauna will be preheated to 65 degrees celsius for a session duration of 45 minutes. If you need to take a break you are able to enter and exit the sauna as many times as you like during the session. It’s important to make sure you are well hydrated before and after any sauna session for maximum benefit and detoxification. An hour before your sauna try to drink at least 500mls of good quality filtered water.

We recommend you enter the sauna undressed or with minimal garments (ie. swimwear or cotton underwear). For hygiene purposes, we ask that you sit on a towel for the duration of your session.

If you can, limit the amount of personal care products you put on before a session. Clean skin will make it easier for your body to cleanse and clear out all the toxins and impurities.

During your session you have the option to listen to relaxation music, guided meditations and podcasts which can be played through the internal speakers. The sauna has also been fitted with light therapy and we encourage you to experiment with the different colours during your session.

Shower, toilet and change room facilities are available to freshen up after your session.

Be prepared to get hot, sweaty and enjoy some deep cleansing relaxation. Please note: sauna sessions are not included in the membership options. A separate sauna pass will need to be purchased.

Parents & Bubs Yoga

CLASS INFORMATION - Parents & Bubs Yoga

Parents & Bubs Classes will rebuild strength and flexibility in the postpartum body and give you the opportunity to connect with your baby. Expect a range of yoga poses that will help rebuild your core strength, realign the spine, hips and pelvis, and release muscle tension around the shoulders and upper spine caused by breast-feeding and carrying your bub. All babies are welcome, pre-walking.

YOUR TEACHER - Azra Mustafa

After early attempts at netball, squash and running, Azra channeled her energy into cheerleading and traditional Balinese and Malay court dancing. Moving to Sydney from Malaysia in 2006, she immersed herself in work and study until a lower back injury sent her to the yoga mat.

Diving into yoga teacher training at BodyMindLife in 2012, she has since added to her knowledge by studying with teachers such as Chanel Luck, Lorin Toche, Simon Park and Les Leventhal. She credits her yoga practice and discovery of meditation for releasing years of emotional and mental stress and inspires her students to reach below the surface to find their bliss.

YOUR TEACHER - Christian Ralston

Christian first yoga class was underwhelming. It involved a teacher in baggy pants asking him to do strange, impossible things with his body. He put the experience on the shelf and left it there until Bikram caught his eye. Naturally sporty, the physicality appealed to him as did a mind/body connection that he’d never experienced before. From there he found power yoga, recovered from two knee reconstructions and in 2012 began the process of becoming a teacher.

Christian has since trained with Baron Baptiste, Bryan Kest, Noah Maze, Les Leventhal, Chanel Luck, Simon Park, Christina Sell, Ana Forrest, Shiva Rea and Maty Ezraty. His classes embrace all these styles, playful and dynamic with fluid movement and strong, creative sequencing set to a background of uplifting beats that illustrate his love and passion for music.

A well-travelled teacher, performer, photographer and adventurer, Ari teaches from the heart, uniting mind and body in a unique style that embraces both the traditional and the radical.

He has taught the physical disciplines of aerial acrobatics, gymnastics, stretching and circus skills for over 16 years and brings some of his favourite styles of yoga, including Jivamukti, Dharma Ashtanga, Rocket and Forrest yoga to his dynamic and flowing classes.

Ari completed his Yoga Alliance accredited 500+ hours teacher training in Ashtanga and Hatha Yoga, with teacher Bharath Shetty at Aanana Yoga in Mysore, India. A life changing experience, it opened a physical and spiritual awareness and rewarded him with a wealth of knowledge that he is happy to share with his students.

Thana comes from Thailand where he was raised in the Buddhism tradition He admires the art of body movement and he joyously found his new love in Vipassana meditation along with yoga practice. He took a journey into Yoga asana to deepen his meditation practice, which transformed his life both physically and mentally, in 2014 when he decided to become a yoga instructor, studying 200 hours at 'The House of Yoga Redfern" under Holly Coles and Vicky Smart's guidance. In January 2016 he continued training for a further 300 hours with Shiva Yoga Peeth, Rishikesh India.

BodyMindLife offers more than 500 classes each week at our modern, healing studios in Surry Hills, Bondi Beach, Redfern, Potts Point, and Kirrawee. Each space has a yogi lounge with free herbal tea, showers and change rooms equipped with organic wash products, hairdryers, and straighteners. Yoga mats and towels are available for hire.
